Rock and Roll band The Rolling Stones that went from dedicated blues purists to a glorified, global showband has turned 50.
The English rock band
formed in London in 1962 and hailed as one of the most successful band
in the history of pop music has turned 50.

Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals,) Keith Richards (guitar,
vocals) etc and played their first gig at London's Marquee club have
celebrated half a century of uninterrupted success by launching a new
book and a photographic exhibition while also hinting that they may
embark on a tour.
The photo exhibition, currently at London's Somerset House,
chronicles the bands 50 glorious years; from their humble beginning in
1962 to become the giants of 70s music with audience singing along with
classic songs that defined rock’s rebellious sense of itself and finally
the the elder statesmen of rock and roll genre in the 21st century.
A new book, 'The Rolling Stones: 50' was also launched to correspond
with the groups golden anniversary. The 352-page hardback edition
published by Thames & Hudson in Britain carries a price tag of $48
(29.95 pounds) and contains 700 illustrations that magnificently
captures the iconic band's 50-years.
The members of the band that billed itself as “The World’s Greatest
Rock and Roll Band” have not completely ruled out the possibility of a
public appearance.
"We're playing around with the idea and had a couple of rehearsals -
we've got together and it feels so good," Richards said in an interview.
Revealing their future plans for performing a live concert in coming
week, Woods said, "What we do is live in hope and hopefully this week
we'll unfold some plans.”
